Where Squirrels are often detected
Squirrels can gnaw through facia boards to gain access to lofts where they will then build nest – it is not unusual for there to be more than one squirrel in a loft. They are often detected when people hear them in lofts or walls and can disturb sleep as they make a great deal of noise when scurrying around.
Another sign of squirrel infestations are droppings. They look slightly larger and more rounded than rat droppings – approximately 8-12mm.
Squirrels’ destructive nature
Once inside a building, a squirrel can cause a great deal of damage – they will chew through anything – structural wood, insulation, vents, also electrical wires which causes a fire hazard.
If their entry point to the area is blocked, they will chew and attack the blockage until they are able to get in again. They can also become aggressive towards anyone who attempts to move them.
